Catch-up bookkeeping Ottawa
Behind on the books? Get current before the next deadline becomes the next surprise.
Fieldline’s catch-up service organizes overdue records, reconciles the agreed accounts and creates a clean starting point for monthly bookkeeping. It is built for Ottawa trades contractors using—or moving into—client-owned QuickBooks Online.
The short answer
What does catch-up bookkeeping include?
Catch-up bookkeeping reconstructs the agreed overdue periods from available bank, credit-card, sales and expense records; categorizes transactions; identifies missing information; reconciles accounts; and prepares the file for ongoing bookkeeping and the client’s accountant. It does not silently guess at missing facts.
The process
Four controlled steps from backlog to current.
- Scope the file.Confirm which months, accounts and records are in scope and identify missing access or source documents.
- Build the record.Import and organize transactions, attach available support and send a focused question list.
- Reconcile and review.Match each agreed account and surface unresolved differences, prior-period issues or filing questions for the accountant.
- Set the monthly rhythm.Once current, move suitable files into Capture → Separate → Close so the backlog does not rebuild.
Pricing
$195 per month behind, $750 minimum.
The price is a starting rule, not a promise that every file costs the same. Transaction volume, number of accounts, missing records, payroll activity, prior filings and the condition of the existing ledger can materially change the work.
You receive a written scope before work starts. If a tax or filing issue appears, Fieldline organizes the records and hands that question to your accountant.
FAQ
Catch-up bookkeeping questions
How much does catch-up bookkeeping cost?
The working price is $195 for each month behind, with a $750 minimum. A fit call and record review confirm the scope before work begins.
Can you fix years of overdue books?
Possibly, but the file must be reviewed first. Volume, missing records, prior filings, payroll, sales tax and the condition of the existing ledger can change the scope.
Will Fieldline refile my tax or HST returns?
No. Fieldline handles bookkeeping records. Any amended filing, tax advice or CRA representation must be handled by the client’s accountant or tax professional.
What happens after the catch-up?
Once the agreed months are current and reconciled, a suitable client can move into a monthly bookkeeping plan so the backlog does not return.
